EAFC Presentation Night
EAFC captain
Andrew Markham scooped the 2008/09 Manager's Player of the Season award at the club's annual Presentation night. The midfielder has lead by example, putting in a string of impressive performances as the club recovered from a difficult start to the campaign to end the season strongly. In presenting the award, Manager Paul Shaw said "Andrew is in the top bracket in terms of ability level. He has had an excellent season and deserves his place alongside some great names on the Mark Phelps memorial shield". A shell-shocked Markham was rendered speechless!
Defender
Adam Williams won the 2008/09 Players' Player of the Season vote (by some distance) to cap an excellent campaign. The defender barely missed a kick all year and weighed in with 4 goals in his first full season with the club.
Mark Barber took the Top Goalscorer title following his haul of 14 goals. Presenting the award, Adam Markham hailed the striker's all round contribution to the club, having played a number of games in midfield. "It's not just his goals and the quality of his finishing, his creativity has not gone un-noticed - the goals tally has probably been matched by the number of assists".
Barber's strike partner for much of the campaign
Dean Campbell was awarded Young Player of the Season. Deano finished the season with 11 goals in total including 4 for the Reserves. The 19 year old held down a first team shirt for the vast majority of the campaign, impressing the Manager and team-mates alike with his work-rate, goals, natural ability and superb attitude.
Midfielder
Chris Elliman was awarded 2008/09 Reserve Team Player of the Year. Presenting the award, Reserve Team Manager Wayne McIntosh said "Ability wise Chris has everything going for him. At 17 he has been the team's most influential player in an attacking sense. He has shown fantastic promise and that can be seen by his 11 appearances for the first team."
The final award of the evening, Clubman of the Year 2008/09, was presented to Adam Markham, completing the night's 'Super-Markham sweep!' (© J. Woodward). More than a football award, this one recognises significant contributions to the club on or off the field. One of the club's original benefactors, Adam has played in just about every season in just about every position. He is the club's all-time top goalscoring Defender (master of the near-post flick from corners!) and notably lead the club to its only silverware to date, the Division 2 Title in 2003/04. Once again this season his presence and man-management skills have been hugely important to the first team, while he has also proved to be a steadying influence in the Reserve Team's first campaign whenever asked to step in.
